Kadidiatou Diani: ‘There is a lack of professionalism in the French women’s team’

Kadidiatou Diani has criticised the professionalism levels of the French national team in the aftermath of deciding to put her international career on hold just months before this summer’s 2023 Women’s World Cup. 

Diani, Marie-Antoinette Katoto and captain Wendie Renard all decided to step away from France’s setup in February due to lack of standards. 

Paris Saint-Germain forward Diani told Telefoot: “There is a lack of professionalism in the French team. Today, we have a rather small staff. It is the coach who decides her staff. We don’t have an assistant coach, we don’t have a specific striker coach, I’m talking about that because I’m a striker and it’s true that sometimes I’d like to work in front of goal.

“At the beginning with the national team, access to care was almost forbidden. I’m sorry, I say it with these words, because it’s really real.

“At the beginning, you really had to be injured to have the right to a massage or a normal treatment session as you could have at the club.
