Kadeisha Buchanan joins Millie Bright on Chelsea injury list ahead of Women’s FA Cup semi-final

In another unfortunate blow to Chelsea’s back line, Kadeisha Buchanan has been ruled out of their FA Cup semi-final against Aston Villa tomorrow due to an injury.

Chelsea will now be without both of their first-choice centre-backs, after the experienced Canadian international suffered an injury while on international duty.

Buchanan joins Millie Bright (out with a knee injury) on the injury list as they head to Bescot Stadium in an attempt to secure the Vitality Women’s FA Cup trophy for the fifth time at the Wembley Stadium final on May 14.

Chelsea Women manager Emma Hayes believes her side has the squad depth to be able to handle losing two key defenders.

Speaking ahead of Sunday’s cup tie, Hayes said: “Nothing changes because of that (injury).

“We build a squad to prepare for these moments and players want this responsibility.

“There are players across our squad who want the opportunities, they want to continue to impress and the reality is we are a team full of international players, so we have the qualities to cope.”

Bright has been out of action since suffering a knee injury during Chelsea’s quarter-final first-leg win over Lyon on March 22.

Chelsea will also be without striker Fran Kirby and attacking midfielder Pernille Harder who are nursing knee and hamstring…
