USWNT head coach Vlatko Andonovski announced a 26-player roster on Tuesday for the training camp ahead of the team’s upcoming pair of friendlies against Republic of Ireland. Andonovski will name game day rosters of 23 players for the two games, which take place in the last FIFA international window before he and the rest of the technical staff select the team’s 23-player roster for the World Cup.
Midfielder Julie Ertz is the big name on April’s roster, making her first return to the team since the Tokyo Olympics in 2021. She’ll now also be one of five moms on this USWNT roster, after having her son in August 2022. Her absence on the team has been one of the most notable talking points around the U.S. midfield, and her return to the USWNT also signals a potential return to the NWSL. As of Tuesday, she is listed as “unattached” by U.S. Soccer on their roster release.
Ertz isn’t the only player returning. Mostly, the changes from the team’s SheBelieves Cup roster are additions, with forward Sophia Smith, and outside backs Kelley O’Hara and Casey Krueger also making their returns to the national team.
