John McEnroe gets honest on Iga Swiatek and Jannik Sinner’s doping issue

John McEnroe has raised a criticism of the tennis system, proposing a solution, regarding the doping issues that involved Iga Swiatek and Jannik Sinner last year.

The former American champion argued that the reputation of tennis has not been tarnished by the cases of the Polish and the Italian, highlighting how instead a figure that protects the players is necessary.

In short, doping is always at the center of the tennis debate. The start of the 2025 Australian Open is very close, the first Slam of the year in which both Jannik and Iga will make their debut, among the main candidates for the final success.

However, the debates of public opinion continue to focus on the cases of positive doping of the two tennis superstars, protagonists of two controversial cases.

“The recent doping controversies have not damaged the reputation of tennis, but having a single commissioner would help clear up the confusion surrounding doping cases. I don’t think it has done any harm because, if you look at it, in other sports it is much worse. In my opinion, tennis is cleaner than any other sport, although that doesn’t mean there are no problems,” said McEnroe.
