Over recent months, we’ve bared witness to Virginie Viard‘s abrupt Chanel exit and Peter Hawkings’ shock departure from Tom Ford (after less than twelve months). Not to mention Pierpaolo Piccioli leaving Valentino and Alessandro Michele replacing him. Thrown into the rumor mill, along with the Hedi Slimane exiting Celine, is John Galliano’s future at Maison Margiela.
The revered and widely-celebrated British designer is said to be set to end his 10-year tenure at the Paris-based fashion house this fall, sending the fashion world (and our forums) into a frenzy. The Central Saint Martins graduate was appointed creative director of Maison Margiela in 2014 and back in January, presented his otherworldly, instantly-viral and utterly spectacular Spring 2024 Maison Margiela Artisanal showcase underneath Paris’ Pont Alexandre III bridge.
