Former NFL defensive end JJ Watt has revealed he attended a meeting about Burnley’s summer transfer plans ahead of their return to the Premier League next season.
As well as discussing the club’s transfers plans, Watt also joined in on Burnley’s promotion celebrations on Tuesday evening — just over a week after he invested in the club.
The 34-year-old, who retired from American football last year, was pictured at Burnley’s promotion parade alongside manager Vincent Kompany.
Watt, speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, said when asked if he is keen on signing anyone in particular during the upcoming summer transfer window, said: “I just sat in a meeting about this entire topic on Saturday so I can’t speak too heavily on it. I don’t want to tip hands in any way shape or form.
“All I will say is I trust Vincent Kompany explicitly and I look forward to seeing the players that want to come play for him and his style of football as we go back up to the Premier League.”
Watt, who invested in the Lancashire club along with his wife Kealia — a former USWNT international, took part in a pub crawl before the celebrations on Tuesday.
