Burnley have announced that former American football player JJ Watt and his former footballer wife Kealia have now formally invested in the club and aim to help elevate its global profile.
JJ, 34, played in the NFL for 12 years before retiring from the sport in January earlier this year, while Kealia, 31, is a professional football player who not only represented the USWMNT but also scored 48 seconds into her international debut in 2016.
The pair have announced their formal involvement in the Premier League-bound club after previously attending the club’s 3-0 victory over Wigan Athletic at Turf Moor on March 11.
Watt said: “When you invest in a club that’s been around since 1882, you must have great respect for its history and tradition.
“We understand that not only are we investing in the squad and manager, but we’re also investing in the town and its people. We take that responsibility very seriously and intend to work hard in earning their trust and support.”
Burnley chairman Alan Pace, who has been in charge of the club since December 2020, said that he is “delighted” to welcome the Watts to the club.
