Jessica Pegula has reached her first semifinal in a Major and she did it right in front of her own crowd, at the US Open. The American tennis player beat the WTA No.1 Iga Swiatek 6-2 6-4, giving the Polish player (definitely too faulty and never solid from the baseline) a tough tennis lesson, on hard-courts.
This semifinal comes at a magical moment for Jez, who is performing the best tennis of her career right on the North American hard-court swing. In fact, it should be remembered that she won her 3rd WTA 1000 in her career by beating Amanda Anisimova in the final of the National Bank Open in Toronto in August while, a week later, she lost the final of the Cincinnati Open in straight sets against Aryna Sabalenka.
