Jessica Pegula is the first finalist of the WTA 1000 in Montreal. The American defeated the No. 1 in the ranking, Iga Swiatek, with the final score of 6-2 6-7 (4) 6-4. The US tennis player took advantage of the many mistakes made by the Pole, who seems convoluted from what was shown up to the Roland Garros.
Pegula reaches her third 1000 Final in her career, and awaits the next opponent from the match between the Russian Liudmilla Samsonova and the Kazakh Elena Rybakina.In the first four games, it came two breaks each side, but the American changes pace from the fifth game, when she too finds the same efficiency from the serve as from the return.
The set ended 6-2 for the US. In general, in the first set both players struggle to make an impact with their serve.In the second set, Pegula in this waltz of lost rounds has the chance to go and close the match, ahead 5-4, but her tension blocks her again and it is the tie-break that decides everything.
