For tennis, the time has already come to switch surfaces, to move onto grass and begin the eagerly awaited grass-swing.
The two WTA 250s in Nottingham and ‘s-Hertogenbosch, the first preparatory tournaments for Wimbledon, are scheduled from 10 to 16 June. After the emotions of the last few weeks, the WTA draw in the Netherlands will be led by Jessica Pegula, who has already qualified for the 2nd round after beating the qualifier Aliaksandra Sasnovich in straight sets.
The American tennis player will face Serbian Aleksandra Krunic tomorrow for a place in the quarterfinals. Seeded number two is the Russian Ludmilla Samsonova. The match not to be missed in the first round is certainly the one between a newfound Naomi Osaka and the Belgian Elise Mertens. The Japanese won the first round in straight sets and subsequently beat the Dutch Suzan Lamens in two sets. In the 3rd round, Naomi will face Bianca Andreescu in a super challenge.
