Jennifer Brady, 28, reveals there were a lot of times during her injury period when she was “at a complete stop” and “didn’t really look like a pro tennis player.” In 2021, Brady reached her first Grand Slam final at the Australian Open but shortly after started to get heavily hampered by a knee injury and a chronic foot issue.
After concluding her 2021 Cincinnati run, Brady decided to take a break to address her knee injury and she had surgery. After being out for 23 months, Brady made her return to tennis two weeks ago at an ITF event in Granby.
This week, Brady officially made her return to the main level by beating Anhelina Kalinina 6-2 6-1 in the first round of a WTA 500 tournament in Washington.

There were a lot of times I was at a complete stop. Didn’t really look like a pro tennis player. I lost a lot of my skills, muscle mass.. it took a lot of patience. I’m pretty happy with the way I came out, handled my emotions, stayed true to my game plan, and was able to come out with a win.
