Jannik Sinner reached the quarterfinals of the Miami Open thanks to the victory in straight sets against the Australian tennis player Christopher O’Connell. The Italian will face Tomas Machac in the quarterfinals of the ATP Masters 1000 in Florida.
The Italian generally offered a good, if less dominant, performance compared to the tennis he showed up until Rotterdam. Sinner seems a little tired, due to the Indian Wells-Miami double match and the climatic conditions raging in Florida.
In the first set Jannik struggled more than expected, going down by a break, but as usual, he managed to recover the deficit from 2-4 to 6-4, winning the first set. The second set had no problems for the Italian, who controlled his opponent without allowing errors and taking advantage of O’Connell’s unforced points.
During the second set, Sinner was also the protagonist of a hilarious moment. On a serve from O’Connell, Jannik only grazed the ball, losing the point but his shot hit his fitness coach Giacomo Naldi in the private parts.
A painful moment, fortunately only fleeting. Jannik checked on his staff member: Naldi, after a small annoyance, also found time to smile while coach Darren Cahill laughed. A nice moment that sees everyone smile.
Friendly fire 🥜🤣@janniksin hits…
