A surprising statistic, considering the very negative numbers of the past few years. Jannik Sinner has transformed himself at the start of the season, practically becoming a tough opponent even for the best five players in the ATP world ranking.
After about a third of the past year, the Italian is the tennis player who has beaten the most top 5s: thanks to these three very heavy victories, the talented 21-year-old has taken himself to the top of the special classification.
After the Australian Open, the blue had a very negative streak of 15 consecutive defeats and no successes, now the balance has undoubtedly improved (3-17). The claims came at the ATP 250 in Rotterdam on the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, in Indian Wells against the home American Taylor Fritz and the last at the Miami Open by beating the Spanish number one in the world Carlos Alcaraz.
Results that have made theItalian one of the fittest athletes currently around. Behind Sinner, there are (perhaps unexpectedly) the British Cameron Norrie and the Australian Alex De Minaur. With only one success instead there are the Serbian Novak Djokovic, the Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz and the Russian Daniil Medvedev, protagonist of a great first part of the year on hard courts.
We’ll see if these athletes will be able to confirm…
