Iowa star Caitlin Clark made history in Sunday’s NCAA Tournament championship game against LSU on multiple fronts. Here’s what you need to know:
- Clark set the record for most points in a single women’s tournament early in the third quarter by notching her 178th, 179th and 180th with a 3-pointer, breaking Sheryl Swoopes’ 1993 record of 177.
- Clark also made her 25th 3-pointer of the tournament in the opening minutes of the game, setting a women’s NCAA Tournament record. The shot moved her into sole possession of the record, breaking a tie at 24 with Virginia Tech’s Georgia Amoore (also set this year). She later hit her 29th, topping the men’s tournament record.
- The junior was coming off consecutive 41-point games against Louisville and South Carolina, becoming the first player in women’s tournament history to record back-to-back 40-point games. She finished Sunday’s game, a loss, with 30 points.
