This year’s women’s March Madness has been unusual, in many ways. For example, no 1-seed made it to the championship game.
Iowa, a 2-seed, is in the title game for the first time. It secured that program first by handing top overall seed South Carolina its first and only loss of the season in the Final Four. Hawkeyes star Caitlin Clark tied Virginia Tech’s Georgia Amoore’s record for most 3-pointers made in an NCAA Women’s Tournament; both have 24. Clark also scored 41 points for a second consecutive tournament game. She had 41 in her historic triple-double in the Elite Eight against Louisville.
