Bianca Andreescu is continuing her injury layoff into the 2024 season, as she’ll skip the Australian Open and other tournaments Down Under. The Canadian expects to return at Indian Wells or Miami.
Having ended the 2023 season early, with her last tournament of the year being the National Bank Open in August, Andreescu has still not fully recovered from a stress fracture in her back.
“Right now, I’m still dealing with my back injury,” the 2019 US Open champion explained. “It is getting better every single day. I’m doing everything I can to get there as fast as possible, but sadly these things take some time.”
The Sunshine Swing next year is an expected timeline for Andreescu’s comeback. Setting her sights on the BNP Paribas Open and the Miami Open in March, both hosted in the United States, appears to be a feasible and attainable goal for the Canadian player. (source: CBC)
