Iga Swiatek, 22, has won titles on all levels in a single season for the first time in her career. On Sunday, Swiatek crushed Liudmila Samsonova 6-2 6-2 to win her first WTA 1000 title of the year in Beijing. Previously, Swiatek won a Grand Slam title at the French Open – WTA 500 titles in Doha and Stuttgart – and also won a WTA 250 tournament in Warsaw.
Last year, Swiatek won eight titles but neither of those eight titles came on the WTA 250 level. So far this season, Swiatek has won five titles and has been victorious on four levels.
Swiatek on winning Beijing
After going four consecutive tournaments without a title, Swiatek ended her drought in Beijing.
After winning Beijing, Swiatek admitted that her confidence levels probably weren’t the highest at the start of the week. “I’m happy that I won because, for sure, this is really big for me. Winning this title is something that I never would have thought at the beginning of the tournament about.
