Third success in the last four years at the Roland Garros, fourth Grand Slam in his career and leadership in the standings confirmed. In the end, Iga Swiatek handled the pressure quite well and defended her title won last year in Paris, confirming herself as the absolute queen of the French Open.
The Pole had to overcome the negative moment experienced unexpectedly in the last act of the tournament, but she showed her power once again and she recovered the break from disadvantage twice, in the decisive set, to an excellent Karolina Muchova.
In the press conference she explained: “I’m having so many different emotions right now. It’s quite surreal, everything. But the game was really intense, with many ups and downs. Stressful moments, comebacks. So I’m quite happy to have been solid in the last few minutes.
Karolina played really well. It was a big challenge. I’m happy and really proud of myself for this win. After so many ups and downs, I stopped thinking about the score. I tried to use my intuition, I knew I could play better if I relaxed more.
This helped me a lot in the third set.”
All the joy of Iga Swiatek after the final won at Roland Garros
