Iga Swiatek insists she is “not going to care” about the top French Open title favorite label. Swiatek, 21, became a Grand Slam champion at the 2020 French Open and last year won her second title at Roland Garros. Swiatek is widely considered the best clay-court player in the game and many have her as the absolute favorite for the 2023 French Open title favorite.
Last year, Swiatek arrived in Paris without a match lost on clay and she was facing all of the possible pressure and expectations to deliver at the French Open. “I don’t think I’m going to care about that. I don’t want to think about how people view this sort of stuff.
It’s pretty easy for me to cut off all the social media or media and try to focus on my job of playing tennis. But it’s never easy and sometimes there are ups and downs. Last year I was able to cut it off and play my game. I’ve enjoyed playing on clay so hopefully I can focus on that,” Swiatek told Eurosport.
