World No 1 Iga Swiatek is encouraging tennis icon Chris Evert to stay strong amid the news that the former 18-time Grand Slam champion is again battling cancer. Evert, 68, announced in late 2021 that she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer.
Evert, who won her first battle with cancer, announced last week that her cancer has returned. Evert has already had surgery to remove cancer cells found in the same pelvic region and is now undergoing chemotherapy. “Stay strong,” Swiatek wrote on X after reading about Evert’s cancer announcement.

Swiatek encourages Evert to stay strong
Evert, one of the greatest players in tennis history, was set to be a part of ESPN’s crew for the 2024 Australian Open.
