Iga Swiatek says she pretty much went through every positive and negative emotion en route to joining the elite club of players who have reached 100 weeks at the world No. 1 spot.
This Monday, Swiatek – who became the world No. 1 for the first time on April 2nd, 2022 – celebrated a major milestone as she entered her 100th week at the top spot. By doing that, the 22-year-old Pole became the ninth player in WTA history to achieve the feat.
For Swiatek, this feat comes just shortly after she celebrated her 2nd anniversary of reaching the world No. 1 for the first time. In late 2023, there was a two-month period during which lost the top spot to Aryna Sabalenka before reclaiming it after the WTA Finals.
“What a challenging, fun, sometimes frustrating and stressful, exciting and memorable journey it is. Thank you all for the support!” Swiatek wrote on X.
