Iga Swiatek’s coach Tomasz Wiktorowski believes the players had every right to call out the “embarrassing” organization of the WTA Finals and the conditions in Cancun. Just a day before the start of the WTA Finals, the players were able to hit the court for the first time.
After holding practice sessions and playing their opening matches, the majority of players complained that the court conditions were “poor.” Also, the players weren’t happy with tricky conditions in Cancun that featured wind and rain as many felt that going there in this part of the year didn’t make a lot of sense.
Unlike some other players, Swiatek refrained from heavily criticizing the WTA and the WTA Finals in Cancun, instead saying she was focused on figuring out how to deliver her best. Swiatek ended up winning the WTA Finals but that doesn’t mean that she was happy with the Cancun conditions.
