World No. 1 Iga Swiatek sent out a congratulatory message to Carlos Alcaraz following the 21-year-old Spaniard’s first French Open win and he definitely appreciated it.
After Swiatek claimed her fourth French Open title on Saturday by dismantling Jasmine Paolini 6-2 6-1, Alcaraz also won the title in the men’s event after overcoming Alexander Zverev 6-3 2-6 5-7 6-1 6-2 on Sunday.
Before Alcaraz won his first French Open title, his participation at Roland Garros was in jeopardy due to a right forearm issue. But not only that Alcaraz managed to play at Roland Garros, but he also managed to beat the likes of Zverev, Jannik Sinner and Stefanos Tsitsipas en route to winning his third Grand Slam title.
“Amazing work @carlosalcaraz. Congrats!” Swiatek wrote on X.
Alcaraz noticed the message and responded: “Thanks Iga!”
Thanks Iga! 💪🏻
