Iga Swiatek insists she does not really give too much attention to her stunning bagel record, instead leaving it to “the media and Twitter” to discuss that. Swiatek, who turned 22 on Wednesday, has won 33 sets with a 6-0 score since the start of the 2022 season.
In her opening match at the French Open, Swiatek defeated Cristina Bucsa 6-4 6-0. Swiatek, who has established herself as the most dominant player in the game, is merciless when she gets into the zone and tennis fans love to discuss the Pole’s stunning bagel numbers.
“I don’t really think about that [finishing sets 6-0]. It’s more I feel the media is doing all that fuss about these results. It’s not easy to play these sets anyway, so I’m just trying to keep my focus on what the score is.
With all my due respect to my opponents, I don’t feel like I should really talk about that kind of stuff, so I’ll leave it to Twitter or the media,” Swiatek told Eurosport.
