Iga Swiatek reveals how she, Aryna Sabalenka made it to top

Iga Swiatek described herself and Aryna Sabalenka as “super professional hard workers” as the Pole feels that’s a big reason why they are such strong forces in the women’s game. After meeting in the final of a WTA 500 clay tournament in Stuttgart, Swiatek and Sabalenka met again in the Madrid Open final.

Swiatek lifted the Stuttgart title, while Sabalenka got her revenge in Madrid. “Me and Aryna, I feel like we’re just hard workers. I know that she’s super professional as well in terms of fitness and other stuff, and we’re kind of progressing no matter if we’re on top or not, so I think that’s why we are kind of solid,” Swiatek said, per the WTA website.

Swiatek on keeping the world No 1 position

On April 4th, 2022, Swiatek became the world No 1 for the first time in her career. Since then, there haven’t been any changes at the world No 1 spot. However, world No 2 Sabalenka is narrowing the gap and threatening Swiatek to replace the Pole at the top spot at some point during the 2023 season.
