Iga Swiatek defeated Emma Raducanu in the Stuttgart quarterfinal and also pulled off a Serena Williams feat in the process, becoming the first player since the American tennis icon to clinch at least 11 consecutive wins over former Grand Slam champions, via OptaAce.
Swiatek, a four-time Grand Slam champion, defeated 2021 US Open champion Raducanu 7-6 (2) 6-3 on Friday in Stuttgart. For Raducanu, it was her seventh win over a former Grand Slam champion in 2024 – previously, she defeated Angelique Kerber, Sofia Kenin, Victoria Azarenka, Elena Rybakina, Sloane Stephens and Caroline Wozniacki.
In late 2023, Swiatek also defeated Aryna Sabalenka, Coco Gauff and Marketa Vondrousova en route to winning the WTA Finals and also had one win over Gauff in Beijing.
The last time someone on the WTA Tour had 11 consecutive wins over former Grand Slam champions happened between 2010 Wimbledon and the 2012 US Open, when Williams managed to do so.
