Iga Swiatek didn’t seem to be enthusiastic when asked if she would like to play Emma Raducanu more often, simply stating that it would be “fun for fans” and that’s it.
On Friday, four-time Grand Slam champion Swiatek and 2021 US Open champion Raducanu delivered a pretty high-quality battle in the Stuttgart quarterfinal, which the Pole won 7-6 (2) 6-3. While Swiatek managed to make it three straight-set wins over Raducanu in as many matches, their Stuttgart match was definitely the tightest battle between them and the Briton definitely wasn’t an easy task in Stuttgart.
Later in the press, Swiatek was asked whether Raducanu was someone she would be interested in playing more frequently in the future because it seemed like a good matchup.
“I mean, for fans, for sure, it’s nice,” Swiatek answered.
Swiatek then asked if playing Raducanu would also be nice to her
“Well, I mean, we have plenty of players to play against on WTA Tour, so I wouldn’t say Emma is the one specific that I’m looking forward to play with, because we have tough matchups, you know, every week. Doesn’t really matter for me,” Swiatek said.
