Madison Keys has been through to her first Australian Open final after saving a match point to upset Iga Swiatek 5-7 6-1 7-6 (8) in a thriller that lasted over two and a half hours.
Late in the third set, the second-seeded Pole missed out on a match point when serving for the match at 6-5.
After saving a match point to force a match tie-break, the American was also 7-5 down in the tie-break but stunningly responded by winning five of the next six points to complete her comeback win.
Throughout the match, Keys was playing very aggressively. and she finished the match with seven aces, 36 winners and 41 unforced errors.
On the other side, Swiatek had 22 winners and 40 unforced errors.
For the 14th-ranked American – who won Adelaide before coming to the Australian Open – this was her 11th consecutive win.
In the final, Keys will battle against Aryna Sabalenka, who defeated Paula Badosa earlier today.
Also, this will be a second Grand Slam final for the 29-year-old American, who previously lost to Sloane Stephens in the 2017 US Open final.
