World No 1 Iga Swiatek has learned her path to winning her first Madrid Open title. Swiatek, 21, is the top-seeded player and has a first-round bye in Madrid. After a first-round bye, Swiatek will likely meet 2021 US Open champion Emma Raducanu in the Madrid second round.
In the Madrid third round, Swiatek is projected to meet 28th-seeded Bernarda Pera. In the round-of-16, Swiatek could meet No 23 seed Qinwen Zheng or 16th-seeded Ekaterina Alexandrova. In the quarterfinal, Swiatek is projected to meet world No 7 Elena Rybakina – the Pole has twice lost to the Kazakh so far this year.
The projected semifinal in the top half of the Madrid draw is between Swiatek and third-seeded Jessica Pegula. In the Madrid final, Swiatek is projected to play against world No 2 Aryna Sabalenka.
