Backstory
Muchová reached this year’s final after upsetting world No. 2 Aryna Sabalenka in a thriller Thursday, winning 7-6(5), 6-7(5), 7-5. Świątek defeated American star Coco Gauff in the quarterfinals and Brazil’s Beatriz Haddad Maia in the semis to secure a spot in the title match.
