World No 1 Iga Swiatek congratulated Marketa Vondrousova on winning her first Grand Slam title at Wimbledon. Vondrousova, 24, upset sixth-ranked Ons Jabeur 6-4 6-4 in the Wimbledon final. Vondrousova, the 2019 French Open runner-up, had a few rough years as she had two surgeries on her wrist in recent years.

At this year’s Wimbledon, Vondrousova’s perseverance after injuries paid off as Swiatek is now calling the 24-year-old “a huge inspiration.”“Amazing tournament Marketa! Congratulations. Your resilience and comebacks after injuries are huuuuge inspiration.

Swiatek congratulates Vondrousova

Swiatek, a four-time Grand Slam champion, looked good at the start of Wimbledon and it looked like the Pole could win her first Wimbledon title this year.
