Iga Swiatek hopes to remain focused “on just tennis” and not on things that make her worry. After being out for a couple of weeks due to a rib injury, Swiatek kicked off her clay season with a bang as the Pole won Stuttgart.
The start of the 2023 season wasn’t easy for Swiatek, who admitted to feeling enormous pressure and expectations. But in Stuttgart, Swiatek looked pretty well throughout the week and she won the title after ousting world No 2 Aryna Sabalenka in the final 6-3 6-4.
“I just hope I’m gonna kind of continue having that good mindset without looking at all this stuff. I don’t care, honestly. I just want to play good tennis. I don’t want to think about all that stuff that is usually bothering us.
I was able to do that here. I really like playing on clay, so I just hope I’m gonna focus on just tennis, you know, just playing,” Swiatek said, per Tennis Majors.
Swiatek does not want to put outwardly expectations on her back
Last year, Swiatek had one of the most dominant seasons in recent memory.
