Iga Swiatek will challenge Maria Sakkari in the final of the WTA 1000 tournament in Indian Wells. The Pole literally destroyed Marta Kostuyk for 6-2 6-1.
The match lasted an hour and nine minutes and was never actually in question. Kostyuk also received medical attention in the second set for a foot problem. But a couple of facts describe the match perfectly: Swiatek didn’t concede any break points during and only lost 10 points on serve. During the on-court interview, Swiatek said she was excited and proud of the performance given to the crowd at the Indian Wells Garden.
“I’m proud of myself and really excited. I think it was an amazing match for me today. I have all good vibes,” she told
Swiatek also talked about the opponent she would have found in the final (she still didn’t know if she was Coco Gauff or Maria Sakkari- ed.)
“There is no preference. It would be stupid for me to say anything. Both of these players are really great and experienced, so they will fight today and they will fight in the final, regardless of who is there. So it will still be tough,” she told.
