Iga Swiatek doesn’t expect the WADA to lodge an appeal in the ruling of her doping case as the world No. 1 believes the ITIA conducted a proper investigation and she already paid the price for what happened.
In August, the ITIA announced that Jannik Sinner twice tested positive for a banned substance in March but he didn’t get a day of suspension after it was determined that he bore no fault or negligence for what happened.
But shortly after the US Open, the WADA appealed that decision and the Italian could still get banned.
While everyone was focused on Sinner’s case, no one had an idea that Swiatek also failed a doping test and was missing the Asian swing due to a provisional ban.
After being provisionally suspended for 22 days, the Pole managed to prove the contamination of medication was to blame and she was allowed to return to action
In the end, the Pole received a symbolic one-month ban – which meant that she would be able to start her 2025 season in time.
Swiatek asked if she fears the Sinner scenario with the WADA
