Iga Swiatek dominates Coco Gauff to reach fourth RG final

World No. 1 Iga Swiatek routinely made the French Open final after ousting Coco Gauff on Thursday afternoon at Roland Garros. 

Swiatek, a three-time French Open champion, dismantled Gauff 6-2 6-4 in what was a rematch of the 2022 French Open final. 

When the match started, Gauff came out playing aggressively. Unfortunately for Gauff, it didn’t work as Swiatek again found a way to beat the American, who will reach a new career-high ranking of No. 2 on Monday. 

By beating Gauff, 23-year-old Swiatek improved to a lifetime 11-1 against the American. Also, Swiatek secured her fourth final at the French Open. 

Swiatek will learn her final opponent after Jasmine Paolini and Mirra Andreeva finish the other semifinal. 

How Swiatek ousted Gauff?

Swiatek got off to the best possible start to the match, breaking Gauff in the very first game. In the following game, Gauff had a chance to quickly bounce back but she missed out on a break point as Swiatek went 2-0 up.

In the fourth game, Gauff had another break point but again didn’t convert. After missing out on break points in consecutive games, Gauff lost her serve again in the fifth game as Swiatek went up by a double break before serving out for the opener routinely in the eighth game.
