Iga Swiatek has responded to Novak Djokovic’s praise as the 22-year-old Pole says she is someone who is always doing everything 100 percent and also someone who has never wanted to waste any time on the court. At the start of the US Open, world No 1 Djokovic called Iga Swiatek “a champion” and described the WTA world No 1 as someone who plays every game with the same intensity – even when she is up big.
After collecting 22 sets with a 6-0 scoreline last year, Swiatek had 23 bagel sets in 2023. “I remember I always didn’t feel like wasting time on the court, and when I was doing something, I always felt a have to do it one hundred percent.
There was a time when I simply couldn’t play like that, with the same focus and intensity. It was only in 2022 when I reached such a level that everything came together and started to work.
