World No 1 Iga Swiatek has indicated that she will be willing to play in Saudi Arabia if the WTA deems the country as a safe place to stage tournaments. On Friday, WTA CEO & Chairman Steve Simon revealed that the WTA is not closing the door on a potential deal with Saudi investors.
Although nothing is imminent and the two sides have yet to start negotiations, a potential WTA-Saudi Arabia partnership could definitely happen in the near future. “Basically I’m kind of still waiting for some official information that is going to come out because it’s hard to know what is the rumor and what’s not.
