‘I haven’t talked to my wife’: Kevin Willard noncommittal after Sweet Sixteen exit

Since the beginning of March, Maryland head coach Kevin Willard’s future with the Terrapins has been up in the air. He’s attracted the interest of Villanova, which is currently the only vacant Power Five head coaching job remaining, and in recent weeks has criticized the resources available to him in College Park, Maryland. 

Willard officially entered the offseason following the Terrapins’ 87-71 loss in the NCAA Tournament to No. 1 Florida.

Following the game, Willard spoke on his Maryland future with great bluntness.

He said: “I haven’t talked to my agent, I haven’t talked to my wife. I made a promise to this team that I was gonna just focus on this team and that’s all I’ve done. I have an agent, I’m sure he’s talking to people because that’s what agents do, but I don’t know.”

Willard was also insistent on the fact that he is yet to receive a formal offer from the Wildcats.

“I have no idea,” Willard said when asked if he’d received an offer from Villanova.
