The post-victory sparkling wine bubbles at Wimbledon tasted bittersweet for Carlos Alcaraz. The young Spanish champion was the ruler of spring-summer 2023.

From the triumph at Indian Wells to the second Slam title at Wimbledon: it seemed that Carlitos would break the world and immediately take over the legacy of the Big 3. So it wasn’t . Novak Djokovic took back the stage, by force, as only he can do. Then came Jannik Sinner, who from the second half of 2023 until the sumptuous first months of 2024 showed unparalleled technical, physical and mental maturation, becoming, at the moment, the man to beat.

Now Carlitos is trying to find himself, after months of chiaroscuro, months of almost crisis.

Alcaraz is trying to find himself at the BNP Paribas Open, finding one of the best performances of the season in Indian Wells, beating Felix Auger-Aliassime 6-2, 6-3.

“I felt really good on the court. I expressed a really high level, much higher than in the first round. I hope to continue to raise the level more and more,” explaind Alcaraz at the press conference.
