Caroline Garcia had given false hope to the media and fans with the sparkling performance she showed against Naomi Osaka, in the first round of the Australian Open 2024. But the 30-year-old Frenchwoman’s adventure in Melbourne ended early in the 2nd round. Garcia did not repeat the good things seen against the returning Japanese, being badly defeated in straight sets by Magdalena Frech.
4-6 6-7 was the final result, in a match in which in both sets the French tennis player managed to get the break first, only to suffer a comeback from the Polish player. Two important misses that cost Garcia dearly, as she is unable to continue the crushing victory in the first round against Osaka and is forced to say goodbye to her Australian dreams.
At the press conference, the French tennis player, number 16 of the seeding, said she was very disappointed and frustrated by the defeat she suffered, but she also explained that she had suffered from some physical problems that limited her during the match. The 30-year-old Frenchwoman in fact revealed that she had breathing difficulties during the match against Frech.
