The New York Marathon takes the streets of New York City for its annual event that ESPN’s Jeremy Schaap considers a “de facto holiday.”
Over 50,000 runners will participate in the 2024 race across multiple divisions. The 26.2-mile race ventures through all five of New York City’s boroughs on Nov. 3.
Tamirat Tola of Ethiopia and Hellen Obiri of Kenya are the reigning 2023 men’s and women’s winners. Both will compete in this year’s marathon.
Don’t think the New York Marathon is strictly a Sunday event. There are plenty of festivities prior to Sunday’s competition.
