The 2023 NCAA women’s soccer tournament has reached its finale, as the title match takes the field in Cary, NC to decide the national champion.
Top-ranked Florida State and No. 3 Stanford will face off to determine the title winner, in a matchup of two teams with national prestige and recent success.
FSU have won three national championships in school history, all within the past decade, most recently in 2021 when they topped BYU on penalties after a 0-0 draw. The Seminoles boast one of the nation’s most exciting young players in freshman forward Jordynn Dudley, who scored in the victory over Clemson in the semifinal on Friday.
Stanford, meanwhile, have three national titles of their own in recent years, the latest in 2019 when they also secured the championship on penalties after a scoreless draw, topping North Carolina in the title match.
The matchup marks the first time in NCAA women’s soccer history that two undefeated teams meet in the national title game.
