The fourth World Cup event of the FIS Alpine Skiing season continues this weekend in Beaver Creek, Colorado.
After much speculation about her return from retirement, Lindsey Vonn will not be competing this weekend, but she will be on the slopes. Last week, Vonn successfully completed a series of lower-level downhill and super-G races in Copper Mountain, six years after her last major race.
The 40-year-old skiing legend accumulated enough points to make her eligible for World Cup events, but she did not earn a spot in time for this weekend’s races in Beaver Creek. Instead, Vonn will serve as a forerunner for the U.S. Ski Team and make her World Cup return next weekend in St. Moritz.

Competition will resume Saturday on the Birds of Prey racecourse, which is considered one of the most difficult in the country. The Men’s Giant Slalom race will be first, followed by the Women’s Downhill and Super-G races on Sunday. The women will be competing at Birds of Prey for the first time.
