Fueling habits, training, sleep — when we’re aiming for big goals, we runners do our best to dial in all the details. But sometimes, factors beyond our control determine whether we’ll be successful in reaching our targets. It could be the weather — a race that’s rainy and cold, or so hot it gets canceled, as happened with the Twin Cities Marathon this year. Or you might suffer an injury that causes you to sit out training or a case of COVID right before race day.
