Caitlin Clark’s first matchup against the Phoenix Mercury was highly anticipated as the rookie got her first duel with Diana Taurasi.
This time around, the veteran guard won’t be playing due to injury. Nonetheless, Clark will be on the floor potentially on triple-double watch for yet another game.
Clark hit the mark for the first time against the New York Liberty on July 6, becoming the first rookie in WNBA history to record a triple-double. She’s averaging 16.7 points, 7.6 assists and 5.9 rebounds per game this season.
Clark’s assist numbers have skyrocketed in the past few games. She’s averaging 11.5 dimes over her last six outings, including just one single-digit assist game in that stretch.
The Fever won their first matchup with the Mercury on the road on June 30. They’ll host Phoenix on Friday, July 12 for the teams’ second of three matchups this season.
