Caitlin Clark is set to face her toughest test as a WNBA player on Saturday, as she and the Fever will go up against the reigning champion Aces on the second night of a back-to-back.
Indiana (1-5) is fresh off its first win of the season Friday. Behind a near-triple-double of 11 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists from Clark, Indiana pulled off a second-half comeback to defeat the Sparks, 78-73, in Los Angeles.
Clark struggled to find her shot in the first half but hit two dagger 3-pointers to help seal the victory late in the fourth quarter. She also cut back on turnovers (2), one of her biggest struggles early in the season.
The Fever won’t have any time to celebrate the win, though. They had to travel to Las Vegas on a less than 24-hour turnaround to face the best team in the WNBA.
The Aces (2-1) have played just three games, but their star trio has wasted no time in picking up where they left off. A’ja Wilson is averaging 24.3 points, 12.0 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 2.7 blocks and 1.3 steals per game. Jackie Young is adding 22.7 points and 8.3 assists per game, while Kelsey Plum is posting 21.0 points per game.
Both Young and Plum will likely spend time hounding Clark on the defensive end in this one. And she could also go head-to-head with former Iowa teammate…
