It’s hard enough for any swimmer in the world to get an edge on Katie Ledecky in the pool. It’s going to be even harder for those in the United States.

Ledecky is an all-time great swimmer, with more Olympic and world championship medals than any women’s swimmer in history. At 27, she’s still going strong as one of the best in the world as she sets her sights on her fourth Olympics.

Before she can start planning her trip to Paris for the 2024 Summer Games, Ledecky first has to qualify. She is expected to compete in her usual four freestyle races: the 200, 400, 800 and 1500. The road to winning the medals in France begins with earning spots on the team in Indianapolis where she’ll compete at Lucas Oil Stadium against the best American swimmers for the two spots available in each event.
