There are a few theories as to how Georgia Amoore has gotten on the hottest of hot streaks, a heater that helped lead Virginia Tech to its first ACC title, its first Elite Eight appearance, and now its first Final Four.
First, some notes on the streak. As the Hokies have won 15 games in a row, Amoore has posted 19.3 points and 4.7 assists per contest while shooting 38.5 percent on 10.4 3-point attempts. She’s scored at least 20 points the last six times she’s taken the court and has hit more 3s through four NCAA Tournament games than anyone in women’s college basketball history.
The Hokies have a two-time ACC player of the year in Elizabeth Kitley, and yet Amoore has become Virginia Tech’s most important player in this historic season for the program.
So what happened to turn Amoore from a caretaker point guard into a fire-breathing, step-back draining deep threat who has given defenses fits for the better part of two months?
