The timing on the move is a little strange, as if the front office was convinced the head coach was holding back the team’s results. Making a change earlier in the season could have given them more wriggle room to advance up the table.
The Dash aren’t technically out of the playoff hunt yet, with their four games remaining against Racing Louisville, Gotham FC, Angel City and the Orlando Pride. Gotham is the only one of those teams currently in playoff positioning, so if the Dash can win out the rest of the season — and get some help from other teams, it’s not an impossible task.
