Ons Jabeur exited the WTA 1000 tournament in Dubai after only one match and a straight-set loss picked up.
On Monday, the Tunisian tennis star kicked off her campaign by taking on 46th-ranked Peyton Stearns.
And after failing to convert on her early chances, the former world No. 2 ended up losing in two sets as the American claimed a 7-6 (6) 6-4 win.
Considering that Jabeur is a home favorite whenever she plays in the Middle East, it is disappointing for her but also for the locals that she exited the tournament so early.
However, it should be noted that the 30-year-old appeared to deal with a right thigh issue.
After losing the first set, the three-time Grand Slam runner-up received medical treatment.
But although she appeared to be hampered by the issue, she refused to retire and played out the entire match.
Before coming to Dubai, Jabeur reached back-to-back quarterfinals in Abu Dhabi and Doha.
